We operate an appointments system for patients to see the doctors or practice nurse. Please read "Who do I need an Appointment With". We hope that this will provide you with useful information on how to access services.
We now have an ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER (ANP). Our ANP can see all patients over the age of 8 years who have an acute, sudden onset, short duration and rapid change illnesses. She can prescribe all medications for your condition and is always happy to help.
Routine appointments are available every day in the morning (08:00 – 12:00) and afternoon (14:00 – 17:30). At present most of the appointments are bookable on the day. We ask that patients call as soon after 8am as possible to ensure that they get an appointment. If this is not suitable for you, we have some pre-bookable appointments. You can now also book your appointments online. If you wish to register for online booking and prescriptions, please present at the Practice with one form of photographic ID. The receptionist will then give you a letter with a unique PIN number. This will enable you to process your registration via the website.
We also offer extended hours appointments, which enables patients with full time jobs to attend appointments at a more convenient time, out with working hours. Please ask our receptionists if you require one of these appointments.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to guarantee that you will see the doctor of your choice when you attend as an emergency or if you are attended on a home visit.
Appointment length is 10 minutes with a GP and 10-15 minutes with a practice nurse. If you think you need longer to discuss something with one of the Clinicians ask for a double appointment. Remember, each appointment is for one person only. We ask you not to use appointment times to request repeat prescriptions—this eats into consultation time and there is provision for this service via our receptionists. The same applies to passport or driving licence endorsement and insurance certificates. We also ask you to be considerate at times of pressure on the appointments, e.g. flu epidemics, or the unpredicted absence at short notice of a GP.
In some circumstance you may feel that you need to speak to the doctor or the practice nurse. If so, you should ask for a telephone consultation. Telephone consultations should only be used if you feel that do not need to see your GP and that telephone advice would be sufficient. If you need to access this service please contact the number above and ask for a telephone consultation. The receptionist will advise you of an approximate time when the doctor will call you back. If you are able to, it is helpful if you can tell the receptionist what your enquiry is about so that it may be dealt with appropriately.
If you feel that you require the services of an interpreter, please speak to one of the reception staff. Staff will then clarify the language, nationality, dialect and gender required needs before making contact the Glasgow Interpreting Service. Please do not hesitate to speak to the receptionists for more information.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone elSE.
Thank you to all of our patients who do arrive on time.
We do realise that things happen which can upset normal plans, but we would ask you to always consider the following:
- Please do arrive in plenty of time for your appointment. The reception desk and check in system can be very busy. If you are even a minute late, you will not be able to use the self check in facility.
- If you arrive late for your appointment it can result in surgeries running late and can cause inconvenience to others.
- If you are between 10-15 minutes late, you will be offered to re-book or wait until your Doctor, Nurse or Health Care Assistant can see you.
- When you are given this option, you will need to wait in the surgery until you are seen and it may not be until the end of the surgery.
If you are more than 15 minutes late for any appointment, you will be asked to re-book.
We would appreciate your help with this matter.
